Day 50

Sahra Wedding Hall

➨ Function: Wedding hall
➨ Location: Istanbul, Turkey
➨ Area: Unknown

Hello dancers,
do you hate heels too?

Today I attended my friend's engagement party, The party took place in a rectangular-shaped closed wedding hall, while I liked some of the ceiling details like the chandelier, I really didn't like the table arrangements and some of the interior decors, It's really weird how the small details could affect the hall's mood. This experience raised my curiosity today I wanted to analyze the hall.

Picture of the hall

What I noticed in closed wedding halls is the attempt to overcome the absence of sunlight and natural view with the exaggerated interior; Greek columns and Roman arches have characterized these halls. personally, I think Disneyland and the way Disney represented the ever after stories have something to do with it.

Nobody can deny that Disneyland is considered the biggest example of eclecticism in architecture with its functionless towers and cardboard columns, Disneyland has overstimulated the imagination and kept any recognizable earthy realities at a distance. with these spaces being the theatre of Disney's stories, I think I started to understand why wedding halls are looking like that.

In delirious New York, Koolhaas wrote that Luna park - the mother of Disneyland - is the first manifestation of a curse that is to haunt the architectural profession for the rest of its life. Well, If we are still seeing the result of this curse in small wedding halls in Istanbul, then Koolhas was right.

I hope that one day we will get rid of these deceptive and consumer decorations and return to what is real and that we consider the closed halls a challenge that we win with experience and research and not by escaping to what is vulgar and soulless.

When I first start writing, I thought I'm going to talk about the table's arrangement, but I ended up with a conspiracy theory 😂

Day 9

Friendship Hospital Satkhira / Kashef Chowdhury/URBANA hello people, First, let give ArchDaily a thanks note for their featured building today. After hopeless days finally, today's building is interested. It was my first time reading about a building in Bangladesh. Finding this beautiful hospital in a rural area has raised a small hope inside me.  Z. note : Today I tried an alternative method in reading the project, I tried to find the principles behind the structure, developing principles that are related to the context of the site and the function of the building could be really critical, but,  you know,  that is the fun part of the design process.  Z. note:  I used a more diagrammatic representation method today. Although I really enjoyed you guys my ghost army and although I started this blog for myself. The need for people's approval is pushing me to promote this blog by opening an Instagram page. Well, let's get into the project. The 8 bedrooms hospital si...

Day 8

Whitney Museum / Marcel Breuer Hello guys, Today I was so busy, designing a fence for a rich Arab, therefore I wasn't able to start yet, but I have already chosen the topic earlier this day, so let's see what can we produce at this hour.  Since I was a kid I never liked museums. The exhibited elements always made me feel sad, maybe because I come from a background of a group of people crying on the glories of the past, which subconsciously made me hate anything that reminds me of the past. Well, we will never know. Earlier this day, I was attending an online lecture about the center Pompidou, the professor reflected how in this museum the exhibited elements are not tangible stuff, but It was the different kinds of activities, events, and people that were brought together from different spaces in the city. Here we see a spectacle of the mass and their daily lives. What affected me here that the museum is not necessarily a closed envelope of lost moments, but more a part of our ...

Project 71 - The Floating Church

The Floating Church / Denizen Works ➨  Function : Church ➨  Location:  London, England ➨  Area:  45 m2 Hello sad people Don't lose your hope.  Today's project is a little different, It doesn't have a site but a mission, It's a boat that aims to connect community centers along the canal, every 5 years the boat will change its site and will sail in front of one of the 5 community centers that take place along the canal. The boat interior was designed in a way to adopt different events such as a church, art classes, and live music events. Most of the interior's details and cladding materials were inspired by the sail's stitching.  References:  Archdaily Enable Ginger Cannot connect to Ginger Check your internet connection or reload the browser Disable in this text field Edit Edit in Ginger Edit in Ginger × Enable Ginger Cannot connect to Ginger Check your internet connection or reload the browser Disable in this text field Rephrase Rephrase curre...
